Ethernet POWERLINK is a very fast Ethernet based Fieldbus with bus topology.

 

QNX 6.x and PREEMPT_RT Linux support for DACHS EPL is offered for PCI controller boards from our hardware partner

The EPL controller boards are able to work as managing node (MN) and controlled node (CN).

 

DACHS EPL high performance resource managers (drivers for MN and CN) and the C-API are available. 

 

The EPL C-API is also available as function block library for DACHSview, our function block based programming tool. 

 

  Up to 4 controller boards are supported in one PC.

Optimizing bus performance of Ethernet based fieldbusses

Frame transmission time vs. frame size

 

The frame size defines the maximal frequency of the bus cycle. This is the case for Ethernet based fieldbusses like e.g. EtherCAT, PROFINET, POWERLINK a.s.o.    This fact must be noticed for the design of the size of the slave I/O images and poll sequences. Huge I/O images of the fieldbus slaves lead to low bus update cycles.
